Hot News from Barb (Sheppard) Lang!

Bob checked in with me (Barb Sheppard) recently, and although he cannot attend the reunion, he wanted to send greetings to everyone. Bob has been living in Honolulu for about 30 years. He has had health problems, and has been in a wheelchair (now motorized) for 17 years. He had a pacemaker implanted about 7 years ago, and I noticed some serious breathing issues during our phone conversation. His spirits are good - he said he went to the gym every day until about 4 years ago. He does not have a computer, but has enjoyed the "snail mail" letters I have sent. I am sure he would appreciate letters or calls from his old friends from the Valley City Public Schools.

Ruth Carlson Batchelor
Checked in this morning from her home in North Carolina! She moved away from Valley City in January of our sophomore year, but has interest in coming back for the reunion. By the end of our phone call, she was looking for airline reservations! Since she does not have a computer, she is going to have a friend help her do her Information Page, and will look at our blog as well. She is still working full-time, and sounds just great. Do you remember her excellent voice in choir? We will look forward to her reservation forms soon!

Janet Fritch Votaw
Our committee received a letter from Janet's sister, Ruth Ann, who lives in Valley City but will not be attending the reunion. Both graduated from College High, and were children of the Fritch Gardens family . . . . we all remember picking peas or other vegetables there. Janet passed away on November 29, 2009. We are sorry to hear that, and belatedly we are sending sympathy to her family.
