Thanks for the memories...and typing lessons!

Doesn't he look great considering he was one of our instructors at Valley City High School back in the 1960s! That's John Keller, Business Ed teacher, now age 81, who helped the Class of 1961 and our neighboring classes learn a skill most of have used all our lives: TYPING!  The other business ed instructor I remember who taught us touch typing was Robert Griffin. Master of Ceremonies Bryce Risser looks on after handing the mike to Mr. Keller.

Hey, I tried to learn a lot in high school (Paul Simon's line in his song Kodachrome about what he learned in high school notwithstanding), but something I used everyday in college and throughout my career in communications--and still use today, right now!--is touch typing. Given today's ubiquitous (that's a word I learned from either Tina Steinborn or Marlys Langemo) computer and text-phone use, I imagine everyone uses a keyboard today, everyday.

This photo was taken at the All-60's banquet on Saturday night, July 10, 2010, at the Eagles in Valley City, N.D., by Paul Merrett, VCHS '62. Thanks to Jim Lang for remembering that John mentioned he was 81.
