Remembering Bob Miller, classmate and friend

The Valley City High School Class of 1961 honors the memory of our friend and classmate, Bob Miller, who passed away on December 23 of this year (2014).

"Bob's passions extended to photography, gardening and parenting. His parenting passion was shared with his wife of 34 years, Liana. Together they opened their doors at all hours of the day and night to over 70 foster children. Two of these children were so special they were adopted into the family." That was from the beautifully written synopsis of Bob's interesting and varied life found on the Haut Funeral Home website. You may read the complete obituary by clicking here.

Although I wasn't one of Bob's closest pals, I saw him nearly every day as a classmate and friend. He was the kind of good lookin' dude that attracted the gals. Bob always had a funny line or two to share and was continually busy with some project or interest after school. I believe he had a motorcycle during his senior year. He will be remembered by all of us. God bless the memory of Bob Miller. Our thoughts and best wishes are with Liana and the family.

If you have a memory about Bob you'd like to share, please leave a comment in the "comments" section below. It would be appreciated if you would include your name. Thanks!

And thanks to Diane (Sauer) Hughes for the Hiliners61 e-newsletters she produces, including the recent issue that carried the sad news of Bob's passing. If you're not on the list and would like to be, please contact Diane at dhughes45@cox.net.  Thanks to Barb (Sheppard) Lang - our energetic leader - for printing hard copies of selected issues of Diane's newsletter and then postal mailing them to those names and addresses she has. If you have a change in your own address, email and or postal mail, please send it to Ron Morsch at rlmorsch@comcast.net. Ron is the keeper of our master Hiliners61 list, available as a PDF document on this site. - posted by Larry Gauper 12-27-2014
