(L-R) Roy Lang, Dennis Gillund, Bob Miller, Jack Paulson, and Dave Johnson. Roy has a "portable" radio tuned to Larry G on KOVC playing the latest Elvis or Buddy Holly record. Or maybe it was the Everly Brothers' All I Have to Do is Dream. At the time this photo was taken, these cool dudes were serving as courtesy drivers during the 1960 or '61 State Student Council Convention.
Photo is from the 1961 "Sheyenne" yearbook.

Besides these five fellas, there was a group called "The Five Guys" and they had a big hit record in 1961. It was a remake of an old standard called "Blue Moon."
Although I would hope so, I can't be positive Cap'n Roy has the radio tuned to my show on KOVC. There's a good chance he was listening to Deano Day on KFGO, one of the region's top-rated DJs of that era. Charlie Boone, another top-jock on "the Mighty 790," had left the year before for a long career on WCCO in the Twin Cities.
