Barb (Sheppard) Lang sent this report on the Class of '61 Lunch Bunch gathering in Valley City on Thursday, August 21, 2014:
“A dozen of us got together today at the Viking Room in Valley City for some lunch and conversation. Even though our table was at the very end of the room, I think we generated enough “noise” to cause other diners to wonder who in the heck we were!
"Before Doug thought about snapping a picture, Mary Ann Musch Gamrath had already slipped away, soyou will count only 11 happy classmates. A couple of girls from the Class of 1962 (Bonnie Cink and Jan Sundstrom Stowman) happened to be at the restaurant, and came around to visit for awhile too. Also, classmate Gary Swenson stopped by.
"After lunch, Denny, Doug and Tom headed over to the President’s House to get a quick tour of the recent work that the volunteer group has done (LouVay, et al).
"That’s a potential site for future gatherings too. We sure covered a lot of ground in a couple of hours. Hope you can join the fun September 25. In the meantime, have a good month.
"Nearly time to start getting out the jackets and coats, or for those who turn into Snowbirds, thinking about what to pack for the warm winter in the South."
Diane (Sauer) Hughes adds: "The group had such a good time, they decided to meet again in September. If you will be in the area, consider joining the fun. All class members are invited! The Class of ’61 Lunch Bunch (as Larry dubbed the group) will meet Thursday, September 25, 11:30 am, at the Country Club in Valley City. If you wish to attend, send an email to Barb Lang at barblang@csicable.net. In case there’s a big crowd, we may need to make arrangements in advance. Even if you choose to come at the last minute, that’s OK too. We’ll find a chair for you." - posted by L.G.
